Conbtributions

A major contribution is the implementation of the player controller for the game. I developed a 2d character controller that can jump and move. This controller has the ability to switch several extreme sizes which made it challenging to implement a robust movement system that works in any size as these sizes can introduce clipping issues with the level geometry. Lastly i created a dynamic camera system that adapts to the player's scale while also allowing for a consistent ratio between the player and their surroundings.

Another contribution was the creation of the level. I designed and prototyped a simple layout featuring several paths. The idea was to make a metroidvania-like layout where the player backtracks to a central landmark after exploring a section.

Lessons Learned

The biggest lesson learned was to scope the idea of the game towards the time limit. While this idea itself seemed fine at first, me and my fellow colleagues who worked on this project quickly realized that we lacked time to test and verify if the idea itself was fun. The implementation itself was robust and we were able to create a playable game. However, certain sections of the game required further polish, which we lacked the time to do.
